Friendship for and appreciation of U.S. Ambassador Walworth Barbour, coupled with hope for continuation of the strong and friendly relations between Israel and the U.S., were expressed at a farewell reception for Barbour. The 63-year-old envoy, whose 11-year ambassadorship here is ending, was praised by Israeli officials attending the reception last Thursday night for his help in developing U.S.-Israel ties. Barbour responded by observing the relations between the two nations were friendly and strong. Among the Israeli officials at the reception tendered by the Israeli-American Friendship League were Premier Golda Meir, Foreign Minister Abba Eban, David Ben-Gurion, and League chairman George S. Wise.
