The Israel Communist Party, Maki, has asked the Knesset presidium for permission to change its name to Moked which is the Hebrew word for focus. The name In full would be Focus for Peace and Socialist Change.
Lone Maki Knesseter Shmuel Mikunis explained in his request that he had joined forces with the “Tchelet Adom Movement” (Blue and Red), which is itself a breakaway section of SIAH, the Israel New Left. In a related move, Maki has begun discussion with the other new-name one-man party, Url Avneri’s “Mert” (until recently Haolam Hazeh) on chances of a combined bloc for the Histadrut elections
