With revelations regarding the Christian Front in the United States attracting great attention here, a large-scale investigation into anti-Semitic activities in France was announced in Parliament by Minister of State Camille Chautemps. The inquiry will be conducted by the military authorities, he said.
The announcement followed an address by Deputy Henri de Kerillis, editor of the newspaper L’Epoque, who charged that anti-Jewish propaganda in France since 1938 was instigated by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels of Germany. He asserted that three anti-Semitic bodies organized from Erfurt, Germany, had been operating in France and added that some French newspapers fell prey to Nazi tactics.
