A drive for $450,000 in New York City for the American Fund for Palestinian Institutions was launched here tonight at a dinner at the Hotel Biltmore. Speakers included Waldo Frank, Edward Norman, William Heller and Dr. Ira Eisenstein, who was the guest of honor.
Founded in 1942, the Fund, which is seeking to raise $750,000 in the United States, helps to support a variety of cultural, educational and social welfare institutions in Palestine, including the famed Habimah Theatre, the Palestine Symphony Orchestra, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, a mental hospital, a school for the deaf, the Haifa Nautical School and the Mikvah Israel Agricultural College as well as many theological seminaries.
