A fund to aid Bangla Desh refugee children in India was announced today by Dr. William Freedman, chairman of the Haifa University English department, who said “Israelis cannot stand idle while a holocaust is engulfing eight and a half million refugees and several million children who are in danger of starvation.”
Dr. Freedman said that the funds will be transferred to India through the United Nations Child Care Fund. Dr. Freedman said several Israeli artists had volunteered to perform at a special concert the proceeds of which will go to the new fund. Dr. Freedman came to Israel three years ago from the United States.
