A group payment plan to enable wage earners and small-salaried workers to pay for hospital care and thus avoid the stigma of being classed as charity patients will shortly be put into operation under sponsorship of the United Hospital Fund of New York, it was announced Friday.
The plan was recommended to representatives of eighty hospitals in Greater New York at a meeting in the Blumenthal Auditorium of Mount Sinai Hospital. A charter has been granted by the Secretary of State to a new corporation, the Associated Hospital Service of New York, which is now working out the details of organization and contracts.
