Funeral services were held here today for Abraham Shapiro, noted philanthropist and a key figure in the founding of Brandeis University. Shaprio, 65, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday while vacationing in Florida. A trustee of the Combined Jewish Appeal of Greater Boston, Beth Israel Hospital and Associated Jewish Philanthropies, Shapiro was a member of Brandeis University’s board of trustees.
