Hundreds of prominent German Jews and delegates from all the German provinces attended the funeral of Dr. Ludwig Tietz, noted surgical specialist and leader of the Jewish Youth Association of Germany, which took place yesterday at Weissensee, near Berlin. Rabbi Dr. Leo Baeck of Berlin and Dr. Julius Brodnitz, leader of the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, delivered the funeral eulogies.
Dr. Tietz died suddenly on Saturday as the result of a hemorrhage. A few hours before his death, Dr. Tietz had been overjoyed to learn that the German government had officially recognized the Jewish Youth Association, as the official body of the German Jewish youth. Since the advent of the Hitler regime he had devoted himself almost exclusively to work in behalf of the German Jews and had been executive director of the Central Jewish relief body.
