Funeral services were held Friday morning for Leon Nadolsky, 69, veteran actor of the Yiddish Theatre, who died at Memorial Hospital on Thursday.
Born in Kishinev, Bessarabia, where he played his first parts under the late David Kessler, Nadolsky later spent several years touring with Kessler, the late Mogulesco and Abraham Goldfaden, the playwright. He came to this country in 1882 with his wife, Sonia, who is also a Yiddish actress, as is their daughter Bella. His first roles were played at the Thalia Theatre. For the past twenty years Nadolsky had been associated with the Second Avenue Theatre, where he was stage technician and manager, only infrequently playing a small part.
The Jewish Theatrical Alliance, of which the deceased actor was a member, was in charge of the funeral.
