Funeral services will be held this afternoon in the ahapel of Temple Emanu-El for De Witt James Seligman, banker and philanthropist, who died of a heart attack in his eightieth year.
Mr. Seligman, a former member of the banking firm of J. and W. Seligman and Company, was a native of New York City. He was active in a number of civic and philanthropic undertakings. Mr. Seligman was the oldest living trustee of the New York Association for Improving the Condition of the Poor. From 1884 to 1889 he served as School Commisioner of New York. He was secretary and trustee of Mount Sinai Hospital from 1881 to 1888. He was a member of the New York Bar and historian of the Thomas Hunter Association.
Mr. Seligman is survived by his widow, two daughters and a son.
