Furnished Data on Armaments, Quiz Reveals

Ivy Lee and his high-powered firm of publicity experts stood self-revealed yesterday as advisors to the German government on rearmament and as the prime propagandists for the Hitler terror reign.

Although Lee himself did not appear before yesterday’s open hearing of the Congressional Committee to Investigate Nazi and Other Subversive Propaganda in the United States, his partner, Burnham Carter, admitted on the stand that his firm has furnished the Reich with detailed advice relative to armaments.

Further revelations were contained in testimony which Lee himself gave at closed sessions of the committee several weeks ago and which were read into the record yesterday.

Burnham’s admissions and Lee’s statement, as heads of an organization which does publicity for the Rockefeller interests, the Pennsylvania Railroad and a myriad other giant enterprises of national and international stature, contained the following revelations:

1) That Lee receives $25,000 a year as a retainer from the Industrial Gesellscha#t Farben (the German dye trust) for his advice on how to improve the German-American trade relations.

2) That he paid his 28-year-old son, James Lee 2nd, who did contact work for him in Berlin, over $33,000 in 1933, which was $8,000 more than he himself received as
