The defeat of a motion to grant a subsidy to the Keren Hayesod, Palestine Foundation Fund, has caused a furor in the Jewish community here. The motion was introduced by the Zionist members of the Jewish community board. The vote was four to four on the motion and the president of the board, M. Jules Dreyfus-Brodsky, cast his vote against the motion.
The Zionist members immediately moved to have the motion reconsidered at the general meeting of the Jewish community.
The action of the community has given rise to strong criticism, as he represents Swiss Jewry on the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
