William Weiss, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, yesterday announced receipt of a letter from W. Kingsland Macy, chairman of the New York State Republican Committee, pledging that efforts will be made to adjust dates of the Republican State Convention so that they will not conflict with the Jewish High Holy Days.
“While I do not wish to speak authoritatively at this time on behalf of the party,” Macy wrote, “I shall use my personal influence to adjust the dates of convention to meet the convenience of those of our delegates, who will be quite numerous, of course, in our convention of the Jewish faith.”
