Gabriel Doron, 60, former Israeli Ambassador to Ecuador and latterly director of Israel Radio’s advertising company “Reggie Yesrael,” died here yesterday and was buried today in Jerusalem. Mr. Doron was born in Rehovot and educated at the Herzliya high school.
A Hagana soldier who rose to the rank of Captain, Mr. Doron joined the foreign service in 1949 and served as Consul in Sydney and Bombay and later as Consul General in Johannesburg. In 1960 he returned home and worked in a high position in the national radio service where he founded the commercial network. He spent a year in the mid-sixties as director of the President’s Office. Mr. Doron returned to the foreign service serving in South America as Minister in Rio de Janeiro, then as head of the Israeli Mission in Cuba and finally as Ambassador to Ecuador.
