Israel Week opened here in high style today with a fashion show in the grand ball room of the President Hotel. Israeli mannequins paraded their country’s haute couture before a distinguished audience of businessmen, government officials and their guests. Israel’s deputy director of foreign trade, Adin Talbar, reported that his country’s trade with South Africa had doubled in the last two years.
Mr. Talbar said it was two-way trade and observed that there was plenty of room for South African products in Israel’s markets. He welcomed the participation of the biggest department stores of the Republic in the Israel Week celebration. Mr. Talbar was welcomed by Mayor Patrick Lewis of Johannesburg.
