Israel Galili, a Minister-Without-Portfolio, believes Israel is too complacent about the forthcoming Moscow summit meeting between President Nixon and Soviet leaders. “Our attitude should not be one of complacent optimism as if no harm could come to us from that conference,” he told a kibbutz movement meeting at Magan Michael. The Egyptians, he stated, are placing their hopes on Soviet leaders applying pressure on Nixon for an imposed solution to the Middle East conflict. “Both the Soviet Union and the US must be made to realize that Israel will not agree to imposed solutions that would deprive her of defensible borders” Galili said. “We will not return to the former borders which were almost indefensible.”
