John Galsworthy, as president of the International P.E.N. Club, addressed an appeal to the Yiddish section of the P.E.N. Club, urging the members to present the plight of the victims of the Bulgarian earthquake.

Thirty-six thousand houses were destroyed during the earthquake, leaving 265,000 persons roofless. The material damage is estimated at $20,000,000. The situation is catastrophic, Galsworthy writes.
