Half of the gasoline stations in the country were closed today because their tanks were empty due to a strike of 200 Shell Oil Company employes at Haifa whose walk-out has entered its fourth day.

Government spokesmen were reluctant to comment on the situation, the tendency being to keep out of a trade union dispute. However, it was believed today that the situation is becoming critical and that the government may be forced to intervene in the strike because of its effect on the country’s transportation facilities.
