The appointment of Gaynor I. Jacobson as executive director of United Hias Service was announced today by Murray I. Gurfein, president. Mr. Jacobson succeeds James P. Rice who has accepted the post of executive director of the Jewish Federation and Welfare Fund of Metropolitan Chicago. Prior to his appointment Mr. Jacobson was director of United Hias European and North African Operations in Geneva.
Mr. Jacobson has served as executive director of the Jewish Social Service Bureau in Rochester; executive secretary of the Rochester Jewish Community Council; country director in Italy, Greece Czechoslovakia, and Hungary for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee; executive director of the Association for Jewish Children in Philadelphia; and executive director of the American Technion Society.
