Shops in Gaza closed down today, traffic was at a minimum and schools were empty as local residents mourned the death of a terrorist commander killed last night in a clash with Israeli troops near the Shafti refugee camp. Yussef el Hamid Mouhammed Hatib, deputy commander of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was identified after his body was brought to the hospital. Three Israeli soldiers were slightly wounded when a grenade was thrown at them near the refugee camp precipitating the clash. Other Israeli troops immediately opened fire on the assailants killing Hatib.
