Zionist circles in this country received with pleasure today new evidence of Premier Charles de Gaulle’s friendly sentiments toward Israel.
Gen. de Gaulle, responding to a gift of a book “The State of Israel,” sent him by the author, Andre Chouraqui, said in a letter: “This book is testimony of what a courageous people, animated by a strong faith in its future and by a strong will, can achieve.” He also expressed good wishes for Israel’s continued prosperity.
An Israeli team of parachutists yesterday placed fourth in an international jump contest at Le Bourget airfield here. Competing against top military and civilian jumpers, the Israeli team came in behind a French military team, a French civilian unit, an American group and ahead of Spain, Britain, Austria and West Germany.
