General Moshe Dayan, who was Israel’s Chief of Staff during a critical military period and now, as Minister of Agriculture, is directing the campaign to solve the crucial farm problems, arrived in New York via El Al Israel Airlines tonight to begin a nationwide tour on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal.
His first scheduled appearance will be at a UJA meeting in Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday evening. Among the other communities in which he will speak for the UJA during the next few weeks are Kansas City, Mo.; Columbus, Ohio; Denver, Col.; Detroit, Mich.; San Francisco, Cal; New York City, and Newark, N. J.
The problem of 130, 000 immigrant farm settlers in Israel who still cannot make ends meet as farmers are his main concern now. It is to focus attention on the gravity of their needs and to spur swift and massive assistance through the UJA to relieve their plight that Gen. Dayan came to the United States.
