Doubt that the incidents which occur on the Israel-Arab borders can lead to a full scale resumption of war between Israel and the Arab countries was expressed at a press conference here yesterday by Lt. Gen. William E. Riley, who headed the United Nations truce organization in Palestine for five years.
Gen. Riley, who retired from his post last month, said however, that there is a need to “rectify” the demarkation line set down in the armistice of 1948. He emphasized that the armistice negotiators mapped the demarkation line as a temporary line only and urged that Israel and Jordan should agree to adjustments.
