A demand that the Wailing Wall and the Jewish Holy Places in Jerusalem be given the same protection of international laws as the Christian and Moslem Holy Places was voiced here at a meeting of the General Assembly of French Rabbis this week-end.
The same resolution, which was adopted unanimously, expressed the hope that Israel will live in harmony with its neighbors, that the U.N. would prevent any renewal of warfare in Palestine and that the U.N. Conciliation Commission’s efforts would result in a “sincere, just and lasting peace.” The French Rabbis noted “with sorrow” that neither Christianity nor Islam assures the Jews “peaceful access” to their Holy Places.
