A “General Council for Refugees” residing in Austria was formed here this week consisting of representatives of overseas aid agencies, the International Refugee Organization and of the displaced persons offices of the three western occupying powers.

Austrian Minister of Justice Dr. A. Tschadek was asked in Parliament whether anti-fascists who were imprisoned in concentration camps in 1933-45 will be given compensation since the present compensation law covers only persons who were jailed on orders of a court and who were later found innocent of all charges.

Since former inmates of Nazi concentration camps were detained without prior sentencing by a court, they are not included in the benefits accruing from the present law. The demand for amendment of the law to include concentration camp inmates was made by Socialist deputies in the Parliament.
