General Zionist organizations in over 50 countries affiliated with the World Union of General Zionists will hold memorial meetings at the end of this month marking the end of the Shloshim, the traditional 30-day period of mourning, for the late Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, according to an announcement made here today by the World Union of General Zionists.
A community-wide memorial for Dr. Silver, will be held in New York on Sunday evening, December 22, under the auspices of the Zionist Organization of America in cooperation with the American Zionist Council, on which are represented all Zionist organizations in this country.
The principal eulogies will be delivered by Moshe Sharett, former Israeli Premier and now chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency and Dr. Emanuel Neumann, chairman of the American Section of the Jewish Agency and honorary president of the ZOA. Mayor Robert F. Wagner and Ambassador Katriel Katz, Israel Consul General in New York, will attend. The memorial will be held in the Congregation Bnai Jeshurun.
