Diplomatic methods were brought into play here today to end a battle of words between a trade publication which has been featuring anti-Semitic slurs and a Jewish War Veterans’ organ. The publications involved are the Verslas, organ of the Lithuanian Artisan and Small Traders Association, and the Poshvalga, the veterans’ paper.
Under a “gentlemen’s agreement” entered into by both papers, the Verslas pledges to discontinue a campaign of anti-Jewish propaganda while the Poshvalga undertakes to drop its counter-attacks. The artisans’ organ obligates itself henceforth not to treat the problems of artisans and small traders from the racial viewpoints.
