Gov, Ellis G. Arnall, who yesterday ordered the Georgia Attorney General to utilize the entire logal staff of the state to stamp out the newly-reborn Ku Klux Klan "once and for all, " has accepted the invitation of the Chicago Joint Defense Appeal to be its principal speaker at a dinner on June 11 opening the Appeal’s campaign, it was announced today.
Gov. Arnall, revealing that he had received threats from the Klan to "ruin" him if he did not desist from his campaign against the secret society, said that he would ask the state General Assembly to force the Klan to come into the open, if present state statutes do not provide grounds for its banning. He charged that the Klan "is and has been engaged in unlawful activities" and has violated the Georgia criminal code.
