A Paris military court yesterday acquitted Hans Weneland, German art expert, of charges of pillaging 25 valuable paintings, mostly impressionist works, from French Jews during the Nazi occupation.

Woneland, who was sent to France to obtain paintings for Hermann Goering, said he paid for the paintings half in Swiss francs and half in modern paintings which he took from German museums after the Nazis had declared them “decadent.”
