Dr. Berthold Timendorfer, Privy Law Councillor, for many years president, and since 1924 honorary grand-president of the Grand Lodge of Germany of the Independent Order B’na Brith, will attain his 70th birthday on September 1.
Dr. Timendorfer, who was born in Upper Silesia, was educated in Beuthen under Rabbi Ferdinand Rosenthal. He then studied law in Berlin and for many years practised in Berlin. In 1910 be was made a privy law councillor. He was for some years a member of the Board of the Berlin Jewish Community and vice-president of the Hilfsverein der Deutschen Juden. He acted for a time as chairman of the German Conference body of the Alliance Israelite Universelle and was on many committees of humanitarian organizations.
He resigned many of his positions in order to devote himself entirely to the work of the B’nai Brith, of which he has been a member since 1883. In spite of his age he is still actively interested in the work of the Order, as well as in the questions in Jewish life of today.
Dr. Lanterpacht of London, President of the World Union of Jewish Students, read a paper at the Conference of the International Law Association, which met in Warsaw. Dr. Lauterpach’s paper, which had as subject the question of extradition, made a very good impression.
The North Louisiana Zionist district which sent uninstructed delegates to the Zionist Convention after hearing the report of its principal delegate Nathan Murov adopted a resolution to join the Association for Z. O. H. Reorganization, the opposition body announced.
