The West German Cabinet, Cabinet, which meets tomorrow for the first time since the Federal Parliament recessed, will consider the reparations agreements worked out at The Hague by German, Israel and world Jewish delegations it was reported here today.
If the German and Israel Cabinets approve the agreements the signing ceremony is expected to take place between September 8 and 10 at either The Hague or Luxembourg. The reparations situation was the main subject of discussion at yesterday’s meeting of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
Hundreds of letters from German firms containing requests for information on orders in connection with the German reparations payments to Israel have been received by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs, the press reports here. The letters say that a large-scale trade is about to be initiated with Israel and contain offers of exclusive representation of their firms’ products in the Jewish State.
The Ministry has also been visited by a number of people–mostly German Jews or Israelis who hold valuable contracts that they concluded with German firms for exclusive representation in Israel. One firm, which goes by the name of “Isropa,” has attempted to create the impression that it is closely connected with the Israel Government. It is headed, however, by a Cologne attorney.
