German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial. The Sunday visit comes one month after the German Catholic Bishops’ Conference created an uproar following their first official trip to the site, when at least one of them bishops publicly compared conditions in the Palestinian territories to those faced by Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto. Merkel visited Yad Vashem in January 2006.
