A statement calling upon all Germans to “help build the State of Israel” was adopted here by the 10th German Evangelical Church Congress, it was disclosed here today with the issuance of the full text of the major resolutions adopted at the Congress.
The Congress, which closed earlier this week, had been attended by 100, 000 Protestants from East and West Germany. About 10, 000 of them participated in the Jewish-Christian Relations Group of the Congress.
The resolution concerning Israel stated: “We Germans are obliged to do everything we can to help build Israel, to strengthen peace for the people of Israel, and also to strengthen the peace of Israel’s Arab neighbors.”
Another resolution, calling upon German parents and teachers to teach German youth the evils of Nazism, affirmed that “no person who took part in the preparation or execution of the persecutions practiced by the Hitler regime should be allowed to hold high office in Germany.”
