Authorities of the Coblenz court said today they had asked for and received from the East German Justice Ministry material on the Nazi past of Dr. Friederich Karl Vialon, State Secretary to the West German Ministry of Economic Cooperation.
Charges that Dr. Vialon participated in the mass murder of Jews in White Russia developed last year in the trial of Georg Heuser and 11 other Nazis charged with participation in the murder of 35, 000 Jews in Minsk. The charge was made by Prof. Nikolai Alezeyew, a Leningrad attorney who testified in the Minsk trial.
Dr. Vialon, who has consistently denied such charges, testified as a witness in the Minsk trial and admitted that during World War II he had signed documents for the confiscation of property of Jews being slaughtered by Nazi extermination squads. He insisted that though he was then in charge of the finance department of the “Qestland” Reich Commissariat at Riga, he had known nothing about the slaughter of Jews. Chancellor Ludwig Erhard has refrained from making any statement on the charges.
