The one-time Nazi plan to move all Jews from Europe to the island of Madagascar has been revived in Germany by the fascist organ “Nation Europa” in an article which urges that the Jews of Israel be transferred to that island.
“The State of Israel should be loaded onto festively decorated ships, routed to South Madagascar and resettled there,” says the article in the current issue titled “Should We Die for Israel?” The Indian Ocean island is part of the French Empire, the article notes, but observes that the area is sparsely populated and that, in any case, French colonialism is about to breathe its last. The author further advances the argument that “transferring Israel to Madagascar is even today a solution that would cost the world a good deal less than a third World War precipitated over the Palestinian issue.”
The article is sandwiched between an essay on “The Algerian Question and the Jews” which alleges that, the Jews were the power behind the erstwhile Barbary pirates–and a story pretending to quote a 1951 warning to the Knesset by Premier David Ben Gurion that “our existence will not be safeguarded until we carry out, together with all the Jews in the world, the injunction writ large on our parliament building: “Your country, Israelites, extends from the Euphrates to the Nile!” The building bears no such inscription.
