The High Court today set aside the unusually lenient sentences handed down by a Frankfurt court in February 1965 on Otto Hunsche and Hermann Krumey, two aides of Adolf Eichmann who were charged with participating in the murders of hundreds of thousands of Jews, Hunsche was acquitted and Krumey was sentenced to five years imprisonment for his role in the murder of 300, 000 Jews.
The High Court found that the jury at their trial had been improperly constituted and ordered a new trial. Both men were members of Eichmann’s special execution commando unite.
