Czechoslovakian Jews who registered as of German or Hungarian nationality in the 1930 census cannot obtain relief parcels from Jewish relief organizations abroad, it was learned here today.
The Ministry of the Exchequer has refused to permit relief parcels to be delivered to the Jewish community councils free of customs charges unless the Supreme Council of the Federation of Jewish Community Councils signs a statement promising to distribute the packages only to Jews who registered as of Czechoslovak, Slavic, or other Allied nationality in 1930. The Supreme Council refused to sign such a statement. Jewish leaders expect that treasury department officials will take a more favorable view of the situation and will reverse the decision.
