The Israel and German delegations to the reparations talks here have reached agreement on most substantive points, it was learned today.
The major points still under discussion are the delivery schedule of reparations goods to Israel and the list of goods which Germany will obtain abroad for delivery to Israel. It is expected that the Israeli-German legal sub-committee that has been discussing various clauses will reach final agreement on the legal language of the pact tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a plenary session of the West German and Jewish Conference negotiating teams began this evening. The Germans were scheduled to submit to the Conference team their offer to the Conference’s demand for a $500,000,000 global settlement.
The Israeli delegation will take no action in the case of German negotiator Dr. Heinz von Truetzschler, who has been called an important member of the Nazi Party by a Bonn Parliamentary investigating committee, pending a study of the committee’s report and pending action on the case by the German Parliament. A German delegation spokesman confirmed that Dr. Von Truetzschler remains here as a member of the delegation.
