Blame for the Jews’ plight in Germany was laid largely to the Jewish mothers’ indifference to proper education of their children, asserted Mrs. Sarnuel E. Stein, in a lecture on “The Modern Jewess” at the sisterhood Sabbath night meeting of the Ocean Parkway Jewish Center.

Mrs. Stein, an Ivriah officer, contrasted the Jewish situation today with the spirit of the celebration held in 1917 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Jews’ settlement in Germany. Asserting that life’s greatest battles were fought not on the battlefield but by mothers of men, the speaker urged her audience to enlist in “the army of Israel to fight spiritual battles for the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth, which should be a more fit place to live in.”
