A resolution calling the attention of the Allied and local authorities throughout Germany to the fact that a new wave of anti-Semitism is rising in the country and demanding that existing regulations outlawing racism be enforced rigidly, was adopted here today at the closing session of the second meeting of the working executive of the Association of Jewish Communities in the four zones.
On the question of restitution, the delegates pointed out that no concrete action had been taken during the two-and-a-half years since liberation for the return of property seized from Jews. A resolution urged the enactment of uniform four-zone legislation for the return of Jewish property, and the allocation of heirless or unclaimed property to a central Jewish organization.
The delegates also declared that the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine would help solve the Jewish problem, and asked for the immediate opening of the gates of Palestine. The resolution pointed out that “our general determination to leave Germany is similar to the attitude of Central European Jewish people to emigration.” It also asked the countries of the world to admit Jewish immigrants.
The delegates, who represented 18,000 German Jews in 35 communities, expressed their admiration for the Exodus refugees and voted to assist them in all ways within their power. Other resolutions dealt with educational, welfare and religious issues.
