August Polacey, an official in the Internal Revenue service here, has been removed from office for having made false and slanderous statements about the Bavarian State Secretary of Finance.
Before, during and after last year’s trial of Dr. Philipp Auerbach, the firmer leader of postwar German Jewry, Polacty was one of his moat relentless adversaries, testifying many times before the investigating magistrate, the court and the legislature. In recent months two other star prosecution witnesses against Auerbach, Diekow and Gindl, have been charged with giving false evidence in cases not connected with the Auerbach affair. Diekow was convicted of perjury.
Before committing suicide the night after he was given a jail term, Dr. Auerbach ended his brief farewell note with the words: “May my blood come upon the heads of the perjurers”
