German Officials Ordered to Delete Compulsory First Names Nazis Forced on Jews

The Bavarian Ministry of the Interior announced today that in conformity with a decree of the military government the Nazi regulation that all Jews must assume the additional first name of Sarah or Israel, depending on their sex, has been rescinded. Reporting the decree, the Munich radio adds that registrars have been instructed to delete the compuslory names from all birth and marriage registers.
