Dr. Emil Schmitz, a physician who worked at his profession in the infamous Sachsenhausen concentration camp during World War II, was imprisoned here today on charges of murder.
The physician, who has not been practicing of late, was arrested at his home in Ingelheim. His role in the murder of Sachsenhausen victims, Jews and non-Jews, was revealed recently during the trials of Wilhelm Schubert and Gustave Sorge, SS guards at the camp, who were convicted of many murders and sentenced to life imprisonment.
