Hans -Bodo Gorgasz, one-time doctor and head of a sanatorium where thousands of Jews were gassed to death during the Nazi regime, walked out of prison last week as a result of an act of clemency by Hesse Minister-President August Zinn, it was learned here today.
Gorgasz was once sentenced to death for his crimes against humanity and, in 1949, had his sentence commuted to life imprisonment. The provincial Minister-President is reported to have acted to release the ex-doctor on the grounds that he had shown repentance.
