A 45-year-old policeman here was re-arrested today on charges of murdering Jews in the Ghetto of Czenstochowa, Poland, during the Nazi regime. He is Gerhard Schlosser, who was released by the court a month ago when he was brought to trial on the murder charges as a co-defendant with Wilhelm Unkelbach, a truck driver engaged in transporting Jewish extermination victims from the Czenstochowa ghetto to the death camps.
Schlosser was released when his joint trial with Unkelbach got under way, the prosecutor telling the court that he had insufficient evidence. Unklebach was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Today, Schlosser was locked up again, when the prosecutor announced that two witnesses have come forward to prove that Schlosser, too, had murdered Jews at Czenstochowa.
