Professor Emil Grenauer, of Hamburg University, his wife and seven children have embraced Judaism as a protest against Nazi persecution of Jews, it was disclosed today by the newspaper, Gerechtigkeit.
“I feel it my duty to save the honor of the German people; therefore I am adopting the Jewish faith with my wife and seven children to joint the Jewish sufferers, regardless of my ‘Aryan’ blood, ” he was quoted as having declared in a letter to the Senate of the university.
His letter to the Senate was written, the report said, after the dismissal of Professor Sternberg, a Jew, seventy-eight years old, from Heidelberg University.
