The Social Democratic Party of Hesse has introduced a measure in the provincial parliament to extend the benefits of the restitution law in effect in the American zone to all persecutees who fled Germany since 1937, particularly to those who are now in Eastern European countries. Although American occupation circles are reported favorably inclined toward the legislation, most German parties oppose it.
