A school inspector named Hertrich, who has conducted a number of tours to Israel for German school teachers, had been the author of an anti-Semitic book during the Hitler period, according to charges made yesterday in the Hesse Parliament, here, by representatives of the Free Democratic Party.
According to the charges, the man’s anti-Semitic book had quoted from “Der Stuermer,” the notoriously rabid anti-Semitic journal published during the Nazi years by Julius Streicher, and carried a preface written by Streicher. The Hesse Minister of Education was requested to tell Parliament whether his Ministry knew of Hertrich’s alleged Nazi background. The F.D.P. representatives said that Israel authorities recently obtained a copy of Hertrich’s book.
