German schools in Montenegro and Brasso Forte have been ordered closed by the government.
The schools have been under the control of Nazis, the teachers having been specially imported from Germany. Of late the Nazis have been penetrating into government offices and making German virtually the only language spoken in those cities.
For similar reasons the governmental representative in the state of Santa Catharina has ordered the administration of the city of Blumenau divided into three sections, in the hope that the predominantly German population of the city will thus be forced to come in closer contact with the Brazilian colonists of the region.
Blumenau was founded by a German Jew, Dr. Herman Blumenau, about eighty years ago. Recent anniversary celebrations in the city, however, studiously refrained from mention of that fact.
