Rudolf Samoilovitch, captain of the ice-breaker Krassin which made the spectacular rescue of a part of the crew of the airship Italia wrecked in the North Pole zone, was honored here by the Society of German Scientists.
Samoilovitch was awarded the Mctcor Medal in recognition of his work. It was stated to be the first case of a foreigner being given this medal.
